Frequently Asked Questions
How long will it take to get your finished photos?
Usually your edited event shots will be sent back to you within 72 hours. We will endeavour to race against the clock to the upmost of our abilities and send you them earlier but 72 hours is a realistic and consistent timeframe for us to be able to stick to. We would prefer to give you a definite availability than pretend your images will be ready sooner and waste everyone’s time. If you know beforehand that your content will be required on a more urgent timeline, just give us the nod before hand so we can make sure we can edit same day. As some events require a selection of shots for social media right there on the day we are more than happy to accommodate your needs. Please just ask for them to be made available and your photographer will be happy to oblige.
How will the images be edited?
Your images will all have a sprinkling of fairy dust to make them look as good as possible. Fairy dust is photographer speak for Adobe Photoshop & Lightroom. These two industry standard editing packages are used by photographers the world over to tweak a little contrast here or a little exposure there. It all adds up to make sure the folder of images submitted to you, the client, will look as good as they can do. We will never overuse the tools at our disposal to give you an unnatural looking project. It is our aim to record the event atmosphere to the best of our ability and not to Facetune everyone into oblivion.
How are the images provided to you?
These days, images are usually provided for you as a download link from our secure servers. This does not always play nicely with company IT policy so if you have a particularly strict firewall, a download link may not function in your office space. This does not mean our systems are insecure. It simply means your IT people are spoilsports – but seriously, if this is an issue, we can make sure your images are supplied on a USB memory sick or even burn them to a CDR ( if you remember those! ).
Outdoor shoots and the UK weather
If your event is outside, we are sure you will have considered the possibility of less than perfect weather. Things can get tricky in rain but to be honest, the only thing that can really get a photographer down is heavy wind. All EPL hardware is weather sealed and will function as necessary in all but the harshest weather conditions. To put it simply, if the weather is so bad that the camera gear can’t function, your event will be off the table in every capacity.
How long are photo projects held on file?
Your images will be held on our secure servers for approximately 3 months from the event date. This is where your download link will originate from. Due to the sheer size of the raw data we could potentially hold at any point in time, our internal housekeeping will flush any project older than 3 months. Therefor we would strongly advise you to backup your event content after you have downloaded it from us. We cannot offer long term archival past this 90 day period.
Deposits
If you are a new client, you may be asked to pay a booking deposit to secure your photographer or photographers for your event. This may not always be the case and can depend on the time of year but we do reserve the right to take what we consider to be reasonable booking deposit appropriate to the event’s specifics. Christmas and New Years Eve are good examples of when we would need a deposit to confirm a photographer.
Cancellations
Once a booking has been confirmed with us we allow cancellation or rescheduling up to 48 hours before the event date. If any client cancels within 48 hours of the booking they will be charged a set cancellation fee of £200. If the photographer is rescheduled within the 48 hours, the £200 cancellation fee can be credited towards the rescheduled date.
Why are standard prices shown for event work but not business portraits?
In our experience, event photography can be split into 3 main job types. There are always a few exceptions but usually and event can be split down into 2, 4 or 8 hour blocks. A business portrait session on the other hand might range from 3 headshots in a single office, to 3000 headshots spread across the UK. With this in mind it would be impossible to give an off the shelf price package for business headshots and we would much prefer you to get in touch to discuss your needs.
